Why is my car’s AC not blowing cold air?

Why is my car’s AC not blowing cold air?

There are several potential reasons why a car's AC may not be functioning properly, including: Low refrigerant levels: This is a common reason why the AC may not be blowing cold air. Low refrigerant levels can be caused by leaks in the AC system. Faulty compressor: The compressor is a key component of the AC system, and if it is not working correctly, the AC may not function properly. Clogged or dirty air filters: If the air filters are clogged or dirty, this can restrict airflow, which can lead to reduced cooling performance. Electrical issues: Electrical problems such as faulty wiring, blown fuses, or a malfunctioning thermostat can also cause the AC to malfunction. At MINH's Automotive, we recommend bringing your car in for our qualified technicians to diagnose the issue with your car's Air Conditioner system. Once diagnosed, we will recommend the necessary repairs, which may include fixing any leaks in the AC system, replacing faulty components, or cleaning/repl ... read more

BMW N63 Valve Stem Seals Repair

BMW N63 Valve Stem Seals Repair

THE PROBLEM This BMW equipped with the N63 engine had an oil consumption issue where 1qt had to be added every 4 days and was blowing smoke from the tailpipe with a blue tint when accelerating post-warmup. This is caused by the aged rubber on the valve stem seals that hardens and cracks which will lose its ability to seal the valve guide. Bad valve stem seals will cause excessive oil consumption and can be identified by recording the level of oil loss. This is unfortunately a common problem that has carried over from the N62 to the N63 BMW engine. The models affected are vehicles from 2003-2008 with N62 V8 engines such as the  E60 545i, E63 645i, E65 745i, E53 X5 and vehicles from 2009-2013 equipped with N63 engines such as F10 550i, F12 650i, F01 750i, and E70 X5. HOW WE FIXED IT We fixed it the only way you can fix this problem when it arises: by replacing the valve stems with new ones. First and f ... read more

BMW N52 N54 Electric Water Pump Repair

BMW N52 N54 Electric Water Pump Repair

Gone are the days of a engine belt driven water pump on late model BMW's. The BMW engines inline 6 cylinder N51 N52 N54 N55 are equipped with electric water pump. This allows the DME to fully control and modulate the coolant flow through the engine without dependency on RPM. This electric design allows for engine power output efficiency and balanced cooling responsibilities for the engine. More cooling power is required on demand for turbocharged engines such as the E90 E60 N54/N55 vehicles. Failing Water Pump Warning Signs The electric water pump tends to fail after 50,000 miles and the early warning signs are the yellow engine temperature light which will then turn red when the car is overheating. The heat will no longer blow hot due to low coolant circulation and the coolant level is below minimum. Once the water pump fails the car will enter fail safe mode to prevent engine damage. The common fault codes stored in the DME are 2E82 Electric ... read more

BMW S54 Vanos Problems and Repairs

BMW S54 Vanos Problems and Repairs

The E46 M3 beauty is truly timeless and arguably the best BMW M3 ever made. The S54 high revving engine redlines at 8,000 rpm producing 343hp without the aid of forced induction. Although the S54 is a well engineered engine, it does have some flaws and Vanos is top of the list. There are several possible Vanos failures and this applies to Z3 Z4 M models equipped with S54B32 engines. Camshaft Sprocket Bolts The fillister head screws that goes on the camshaft sprockets will get loose over time allowing the bolt to puncture a hole through the block or valve cover. The sheared bolts can also cause the timing chain to skip and snap resulting in permanent engine damage. The cam gear bolts have been updated by BMW to prevent this catastrophic failure and we suggest having the bolts upgraded during your Inspection II service. Cam Gear Bolts Exhaust Camshaft Hub and Vanos Oil Pump The exhaust hub contains two tab ... read more

What is BMW xDrive? BMW xDrive is a full-time all-wheel drive system with the transfer case being the core component. The transfer case works by directing power from the transmission to both the front and rear differentials. xDrive can make a trip on snowy roads an easier time on you and your car. We’ve determined that the transfer case assembly has failed internally due to a failed chain and has a stored fault code 5F3A Transfer Case Malfunction. A complete case replacement is in order which comes with a new actuator motor. Transfer Case Maintenance We recommend performing the transfer case oil change every 60,000 miles ... read more

BMW N54 Walnut Blasting

BMW N54 Walnut Blasting

What is Walnut Blasting? Walnut blasting is the process of blasting pressurized, crushed walnut shells onto the intake valves and in the cylinder on direct injection engines. This procedure is designed to remove carbon deposits which accumulate over time from blow-by gases, carbonized fuel, and oil on the intake valves and intake ports of the cylinder head. When the valves become heavily carbonated, the engine may exhibit symptoms such as misfire, rough idle, and lack of power, which is a result of the intake valves not being able to close properly. Service Benefits With a clean running engine, power will be restored with a more responsive throttle and allow for an increase in fuel economy. We recommend to have this service performed every 30,000 miles on your BMW equipped with N54 and N55 engines, available on the 135i, 335i and 535i. This service is more involved on V8 motors such as N63 and diesel motors M57, N57 which requires a mor ... read more
